Year5Maths ("we", "us", "our") provides free online maths practice tests for Australian primary school students. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, particularly children.

1. Information We Collect

(a) Tests and browsing. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information when you use our tests or browse the site. The first name entered before a test is stored only in your browser's memory (JavaScript) for the duration of the session. It is never sent to any server, saved to cookies, or stored in local storage. When you close the browser tab or click "Try Again", the name is cleared completely. We do not require accounts, email addresses, passwords, or any registration. We do not use analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels).

(b) Contact form. If you use our contact form, you may provide a name (optional), email address (optional), topic selection, and a message. This information is transmitted securely via HTTPS to our email system so we can read and respond to your message. It is then discarded. No contact form data is stored in any database or filesystem.

2. Children's Privacy

This site is designed for use by children aged 8–11 (Year 3 and Year 5 students) and their parents/teachers. We comply with:

• The Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
• The Children's Online Privacy Code (2026)
• The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations

Our compliance measures:

• Our tests follow a zero-trace model — students can complete tests without providing any identifying information, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
• No user accounts exist.
• All advertising is contextual only, tagged as child-directed content (see Section 4).
• No interest-based or retargeted advertising is served.
• The contact form is separate from the testing experience. We recommend children use it with a parent or teacher present.

3. Fonts

We use the Fredoka and Nunito typefaces, which are self-hosted on our own servers. No requests are made to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service. Your browser loads font files directly from year5maths.com.au, so no IP addresses or browsing data are shared with external font providers.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display advertisements through Google AdSense on our landing and hub pages. No ads are shown on the actual test screens where children interact.

• All ad units are tagged as child-directed, which tells Google to disable interest-based advertising and remarketing for these pages.
• Google may use cookies to serve ads. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• We do not control which specific ads are shown — Google selects ads appropriate for child-directed content.

5. Cookies

Year5Maths itself does not set any cookies. However, third-party services embedded on our pages (Google AdSense) may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies.

6. Cross-Border Disclosure

When you submit the contact form, the contents of your message (and any name or email address you choose to provide) are transmitted to Resend Inc., a United States-based email delivery service, for the sole purpose of delivering your message to our team. Resend acts as a transit provider only and does not retain your data beyond the time needed to complete delivery.

No other feature on this site transmits personal information overseas. This disclosure is made in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 8 (cross-border disclosure of personal information).

7. Data Storage

All test data (answers, scores, results) exists only in your browser's memory during the active session. Nothing is saved when you leave the page. There is no database, no server-side storage, and no way for us to access your test results. The contact form is the only feature on this site that transmits information to us, and it does not write to any database.

8. Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to external websites (e.g., ACARA, Google). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Year5Maths is committed to providing a safe digital environment for Australian students. If you encounter inappropriate content, advertising, or any safety concern on this site, you can:
